that would work but you might have some time putting under the car. it`s a good rearend a lot of hot rodders us it on both sides ford and chevy. good luck. see if you can get a hold of a mustang and get the rearend form under it. you`ll come out cheaper in the long run and it will still work unless you are going to do a lot of racing then go with the 9inch.

i don`t know about that you would have to see the width.becase the newer mustang are smaller. then also you have to find the right size u joints and yoke. that will match up.

Re: 302 in a 62 falcon?
hey well all i know is that a 289 is a perfect bolt up so if the mounts r the same on the 302 block then it should fit unless the heads r too tall!! let me know!

Yes, a 302 fits. The '60-63 Falcon body got the 260 v8 in '63, and the mounts for the 260 are the same for the 289 and 302 (and late 5.0). The blocks are basically the same, though the 289 and 302 use a different transmission bolt pattern than the 260, so you have to put the matching trans in as well. The 351 W uses the same mounts (and is the same basic engine as the 302) but has a taller deck height, so it's an inch wider and an inch taller, making for a tight fit (though it's been done). The 351C requires a complete reworking of teh shock towers.
For our aussie friends, the Falcon was developed in the US and first introduced here in late '59 as a '60 model, and was followed up fairly quickly down under. The US and Aus falcons stayed the same until '64, when we got a new bodystyle (actually just new square bodywork on the same chassis Even the roof remained unchanged). In '64, the Aus Falcon got a modified version of the '61-63 Mercury Comet front sheetmetal (with single headlights instead of the Comet's quads) on the same '60-63 Falcon body. In '67, they became the same cars again, though the US got a 2 door Falcon, and the Aussies didn't. The cars remained basically the same up until '70, when you got some revised bodywork on that same Falcon body, and the US Falcon became a low trim level on the '70 Torino. There was no US Falcon after 1970. In '72, when the Torino changed bodies, the Aussie XA Falcon arrived, using the '70-71 Torino styling, in a smaller package.
