Jack stands or ramps for clearance and safety?

I need to buy one it's getting tiring jacking up one side to crawl under and then the other.

Car is 98 ford windstar 3.0l if that matters. Been kept in the outside all these years so frame is kind of rusted. Passenger side is hard to find a good place to jack up imo.

My biggest concern is safety and clearance. Van is pretty low that I can't even get the jack under from the front bumper I have to lift the car up and slide it in at the same time.

Note that idk much about cars either I'm just trying to learn so safety is the biggest factor. I always put something under for extra measure though.

Also if say the car is 3 tons would 2 2ton Jack's work or would I be better off getting 3 ton Jack's.

I will be using them for future projects just working on my daily driver right now trying to learn

Ramps are okay until you need to remove a tire. Then you're back to a jack. You are not lifting the entire weight. Just make sure you get a Rapid-Jack type. I have both and probably use jack stands more.

thanks looks like i will be using stands then. ended up doing some research looks like i need to look at curb weight but i was looking at gross weight to calculate. somewhat explains why my jack doesn't fit under the car. probably because it's 3 tons so less clearance but looks like i need 2tons minimum with about 500lbs extra weight for safety
