Amplifier Questions
ok I have a coulple of questions to ask you guys
1. Has anyone heard of a Boss "AVA" series amp? I think Boss makes an "AVA" series head deck but I've never heard of an "AVA" amp. Anyway, I picked one up and it says it's an "AVA-370" 2.On my amp there are three hookups in a croup (B+ , REM , GND) I know that B+ is the possitive battery connection, GND is ground, but what is the REM? Do I need to use this to hook up my amp? 3. On my amp there is also a spot fo "hi input", what exactly is this and can it be used with any head unit? Last but not least 4. Is there really a great reduction in sound quality if you run your power wire and you're RCA's along the same path? Well that's all for now, any help would be appreciated. :ylsuper |

The REM connection you mentioned refers to a wire on the deck, you need to connect this cause when u turn the deck on, it sends a signal to the amp telling it to power up ,then when the deck is off, the amp will be off, and not draining your battery. :smoka: The Deck should have a wire for this, check the manual for a wiring diagram, or look on the back of the deck, it should be labled. Personally I havent heard of a Boss AVA-370 amp, but then again, im not a big Boss fan myself, im a Pioneer man myself I personally have my power wires and my RCA's close together, and I havent had a problem, but the power wire im running is stuff my dad got from work, its got quite a bit of shielding, hopefully someone else can answer that better for ya, and about the high's input on the amp, I have no clue...sorry I cant help ya more dude. Good luck with the install man, and tell us how it sounds when ur done

Thanks for the help,
just one more thing What type of wire do you use to connect the REM? P.S. I found out the the high inputs are for decks which don't support RCA's, you just connect speaker wire to them. |

you can practically use any kind of wire to hook up the REM. It doesnt have to be very big at all because all it does is carry a tiny little signal. you can probably find some really thin cheap wire at an electronics store, or maybe where u bought ur amp.

Re: Amplifier Questions
Another Epic 4 year bump
*bump* UGH! also, does the REM wire have to be connected? Trying to test an amp off an old ATX PC power supply. |

Re: Amplifier Questions
well, if you want it to actually turn on it does. You can just jumper a wire from the +12V terminal to the remote term for testing.
