V8Stockcar/ARRC by GrassRoots Motorsports

by Bosco

While the world economy is cool, the competition in the V8 StockCar Road Racing Series remains white hot. More than thirty stock cars and GT types are expected for the HOWE RACING/PITBOXES.COM V8 Championships at Road Atlanta November 4th &5th. The V8 Series finale is part of the American Road Race of Champions, ably hosted by the ATLANTA REGION SCCA and presented by GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS MAGAZINE. The ARRC has become one of the premier amateur road racing events in the country, drawing top notch competitors from across the land. The V8 series roster of combatants include some of club and pro racings finest, and their high horsepower V8 time machines will split eardrums, quicken the pulse, and excite even the most casual of observers sending them running to the fence to watch. These cars are so fast, so cool, and so loud that they can turn even an ardent member of GREENPEACE into fans. The V8 StockCar series has four classes of smokin' fast racers including the incredibly affordable HOWE RACING V8 GTA cars, a tube framed 2800 pound, 500 horsepower road race stock car that can top 160 mph down Road Atlanta's straights. In addition, there are the PITBOXES.COM V8 SPO stock cars, which are ex Nascar Cup and Nationwide cars or super late model stock cars with powerful, high rpm motors making 700-800 horsepower and capable of hitting 170 plus mph down the RA back straight. The LG MOTORSPORTS V8 GT2 cars, which are ex World Challenge Cars, Koni Challenge Cars, SCCA STO & SCCA GT2/3 and the like. The fastest of the group are the PORTERFIELD ENTERPRISES V8 GT-1's, these are the winged, Corvette's, Camaro's, Mustangs, and Monte Carlo's with upwards of 800 horsepower, 14 inch wide rubber, sophisticated suspensions and 175 plus mph speeds down the back straight at Road Atlanta.

Dave Machavern will be driving his super cool 1963 Falcon GT-1, with its' composite, wide body vintage silhouette look, but it is all Trans Am racer underneath. The car recently topped 200 mph at our Daytona race. The Falcon was built by road racing icon Tommy Riggins and the Riggins Engineering crew. Machavern looks to wrap up his fourth V8 GT-1 title with a good finish at the ARRC.

In the LGM V8 GT-2 class Bill McGavic leads two time champion Bob Mayer 129-120. McGavic wheels a giant killer tube frame, last gen RX7 GT car and has four wins on the year. Mayer and his ex World Challenge C6 Corvette prepared by Sam Power of CrossRoads Motorsports are super tough at Road Atlanta, where he holds the class track record.

In the PitBoxes.com V8 SPO class Paul Breehne and his Rousch Yates Performance parts Ford have six wins and 144 points, he leads former Nascar Dash champ Larry Hoopaugh going into the finale. Hoopaugh is a two time champion, while Breehne has come up just short twice.

2009 Champ Randy Walker leads the HOWE RACING V8 GTA class by 15 points over last years runner up Tommy "Hollywood" Graham. Talented nineteen year old Cameron Lawrence, fresh from a podium finish at the Trans Am race at Road Atlanta, is only five points behind Graham and he is fully capable of winning at the ARRC.

The V8 Series wishes to thank the Atlanta Region SCCA, the ARRC committee and GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine for enabling the series to participate in an event that has a total pro racing feel to it.

The V8 StockCar series is especially grateful to our partners for the help they provide, they are; SCCA, Porterfield Enterprises, LG Motorsports, Howe Racing, PitBoxes.com, GoPro, RaceTalkRadio.com, Sunoco, Hoosier, Goodyear, Mo's Gold, FiveStar, RaceCar Engineering, RacingJunk.com, Roehrig-Enders, and GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine
