Re: what size fuse?

maybe a little more info will help...its one of those cheaper install kits from wal-mart or autozone..powering an older but very solid 400 watt kenwood amp. im not sure the guage of the wire but it is fairly thin and comes directly off of the battery...its the fuse closest to the battery. very simple low budget setup...any idea?

Re: what size fuse?

the amp is an older kenwood kac-745...even the manual doesnt say what size fuse....am i safe to assume it was a 10 amp or a 20 amp fuse...the wire is of smaller guage

Re: what size fuse?

the online manual says current consumption is 25A at some ungodly distortion. Try a 20 amp fuse, if it blows to easily, use a 25

Re: what size fuse?

like i said its an older amp...does what i need it to do...and i think it sounds decent with my blaupunkt subs. is this really considered a bad amp these days...its pretty old...but has been reliable. i listen to rock..hard rock and metal...very rarely crank it up these days. but when i do it pumps pretty good. im pretty happy with it in this situation.

thanks for the info...and i will try the 20 amp fuse tomorrow and see what happens
