Exclamation 2001 Silverado Vent and Purge Valve help

I purchased the vapor canister vent valve and purge valve as the service engine light has been on and this are the contributors. I need help with the location of these and how to access/change them in my garage. It appears that they may be by the fuel tank and I don't know if I need to lift the box or something to access them. It is the 5.3L V8.

Thanks!

Re: 2001 Silverado Vent and Purge Valve help

If the truck has the 262 V-6 the purge valve is near the right rear of the intake manifold, and should be easily identifiable by the plastic line with the purge test fitting attached to it.

For V-8s, the purge valve should be on top of the plastic upper intake, just behind the throttle body and slightly to the right (passenger side).

How about the vent valve? Is that underneath by the gas tank?

Re: 2001 Silverado Vent and Purge Valve help

Got the purge valve on the motor swapped out. That was easy once I knew where to look. Now some help on the vent valve needed.

The EVAP canister is mounted along the inside of the left frame rail, just ahead of the fuel tank. The purge valve and its filter are mounted just forward and above that.

what are the gas cap codes with this ? these codes are most times from a liquid fuel contaminated canister. over filling the fuel tank then parking in a warm spot with little driving does this. the gas cap can also produce these codes as well as broken venting lines and a cracked canister case. check the lines for a black sludge. remove the lines to canister to check this out. remove the canister to inspect and see if gas/goop comes out.
