For starters, lose the Lean Burn system...The computer off a 318/360 van will work well. If you have the 2bbl, a 4bbl swap is easy, and cheap. Look for the 4bbl manifold from a 360 (Again, look at vans/trucks) and T-Quad. If I'm not mistaken, the '86-and-up 318s have a roller cam, so cam swaps are a little more money, but with the 4bbl and some head work, you can make it go! While you're under the hood of the van(s) nthat yer swiping parts from, grab the vacuum advance distributer and dual snorkel air cleaner. For more $$$, you can get the heads done for good flow. The #302 castings are excellent, but stock flow about 135cfm @.500 lift, which is weak. Get the heads milled .030-.050, open the valves to 2.02/1.60 inch, and port at will. If you want to move away from the roller cam, the Comp Cam Xtreme Energey 268 is an excellent cam.
