If GM buys Fiat...
...my understanding is that Ferrari & Maserati are not part of the deal. Feel free to correct me if I'm off here. But if they're not, then what happens to these two auto manufacturers? Is it expected that they will go it alone, or would they look to partner with another large company, like Volkswagen?

IF GM buys FIAT....
They will ruin the image of Ferrari, like the compromises made of the Bentley Continental GT by Volkswagen. Don't get me wrong, the Continental GT might be a great car, but I just wish it had been a bit more Bentley and a bit less Volkswagen Phaeton. If you do not see what I'm seeing, look at the gear lever and the steering wheel. Coming back to the point, I fear the same might happen to Ferrari. It might turn out to be just a more exotic Corvette! |

GM won't have any pull on Ferrari. It will not affect Ferrari in any way shape or form.

Re: If GM buys Fiat...
GM are/were looking at buying FIAT Auto, not FIAT SpA, FIAT SpA own the FIAT Auto, Ferrari SpA is 60% owned by FIAT SpA, hence a completely seperate deal would need to be made for GM to be able to touch Ferrari and Maserati.
