Question 87 B2200 Manual transmission problem, rebuild or replace??

My strait drive transmission has developed a very loud squealing sound under load in 1st 2nd 3rd 5th gear doesent do it in 4th though Ive never took one apart though so what do you think.but its for sure nothing simple like throughout bearing or pilot bearing.it also still changes gears good but the racket sounds like a bearing squealing very loud.Thanks.

Tranny seldom squeals, clutches often do-they are slipping. If it is tranny making that noise, it probably is the output bearing in the tail shaft or the throwout bearing.Get a chiltons manual and tear into it.BJ

Ok I took the transmission apart and it was my front layshaft bearing it was worn out I got it for 17.77 at advance auto parts. If you decide to do this job I suggest you have a hydraulic press and a retaining clip remover but over all not that hard.
