Sweet ride man! I have one, but its the 1.6 (that does make me a bit sad), but its a very pepy car, and it's not slow at all! I fitted the whole cold air intake system plus a custom made header and muffler

1995 Carina

Hi,

I have a car similar to yours but it is a 1.8 SX with the Lean Burn.

It is a great car but where I live in St. Lucia the roads are terrible.

I am in desparate need of shock absorbers both front and back but as this car was a Japanese used car shipped directly from Japan, the local Toyota dealer is not being very helpful.

Can anyone help me in identifying which other models more common throughout the world migh have the same shocks. Or a supplier of Carina replacement shocks wold also be very useful.

Best regards,

Chris Kessell

I (as in my dad but i maintain it!) has that car! except its red and the booted version. how many miles has it done? any problems with it? mine (as it will be refered to from now on ) has done 140 000 miles (first owner was a rep and it clocked up 70 odd thousand miles quickly then stood for a year or two)

Good things,
Starts first time every time, even in the cold when are neighbours 95 model carina wont!
very little rust for its age
seems to be in way better condition that 99% of carina Es ive seen

Bad things
Got an oil leak which i think is seeping out the back of the engine head, itll get the oil level from the full mark on the dipstick down to the have way marker in a 300 mile trip.
Car doesnt look very red any more, its slowly turning pink due to the paint fading

Heres a picture of the beuaty and then the beast which is made on paint for a laugh lol

Re: 93 Carina E

I have a burgandy red 1.8 Carina CDX from 1996 with just 69,000 miles and its a dream car which I bought recently from a retired air force pilot who had really looked after it and had it serviced at Toyota garages since new. Everything about the car is practically like new without a spot of rust in site and its just gorgeous. I was really lucky to find this car and I intend to keep it for several years if possible. It still has all its original parts except for the cam belt which was changed at 60,000 miles.
