FYI
My 356 is a Kit Car that is power by a Subaru Twin Turbo 2.0 (I saw you had a Subaru "great flat 4 engine").

Where did you get your hands on a twin turbo 2.0??
And how much did it cost you? Wow, I want that engine! I'll be waiting a while though, cause mine only has 30K. Hahaha

I imported it in from Japan. Normally you can NOT do this but I had it declare as parts and it made it through customs. I would NOT recommend it thought. The bi-turbo does not have a smooth transition. I removed the bi-turbo setup and made them both spin up at the same time. It did produce turbo lag but made the power curve much smoother. I also change the ECU to a Haltech so I could customize the boost, fuel and timing curve. The original ECU was designed to run on 100RON and the 93 octane around here was produce LOTS of knocks. It cost me $3500 for engine and transmission (the engine had 27km on it and I sold the tran). If I had it to do over I would of just of got the single turbo. BTW is your brother think of get a 356 kit or real 356? If so he my want to get this engine. I had a turbo 2275cc type 1 (1600 bored and stroked) VW engine in but it did not last.

Thanks for all the information, it helped a lot, sounds like more work than I want to put into this car...It always nice when you find somebody else who tried something before you attempt it yourself!
My brother is looking at real 356's...I sure hope he gets one!

It's good to know there is a slower Porsche out there than the 924!
Back to the DeTomaso discussion! These are really great cars. They originally had an arrangement with FoMoCo to sell them through Lincoln/Mercury, but when they new insurance and crash standards hit, they weren't very feasable. In the 80s, they revised them, and came out with the Pantera GT5, which was a badass car in every regard. Before the Pantera, they had the Mangusta, which was powered by a Ford 289 Windsor. Recently, Qvale has gotten the rights to the Mangusta, and they are now producing them with 4.6 liter Cobra V8s. Right scrappy little cars, they are!

Yes, and they have good ol American V8s, so there is a lot of room to increase the power.
