1996 Corolla Won't Start
1996 toyota corolla 5-speed 1.6 engine
Hi! I have a 1996 toyota corolla. It's a 5 speed. I had been driving for about a half hour with the a/c running, stopped at a store, came out and the car wouldn't start. The starter turned over, but it wouldn't fire---didn't even attempt to fire. It was running fine before I stopped. I had it towed to a friend who does mechanic work. We've replaced the distributor and the ignition module, but still can't get a spark at the plugs. Any ideas why it won't get a spark to start? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

If you have an external ignition coil, I would replace that. Testing a coil is potentially meaningless unless it tests bad.

I second the ignition coil check. I had a similar problem on a 95 Corolla.
