Re: P1441 Code 99 Grand Am Gt
P1441 means that the vacuum switch behind the purge valve is signaling the PCM that it see's a vacuum, when the purge valve is not commanded on.
The most common causes are a bad purge valve, or a bad switch. Your scann tool is not the proper tool for diagnosing this. A tech with the proper diagnostic tool can look at serial data which will report the switch signal in a "Yes" there is vacuum, or a "No" there is no vacuum . The tech can then verify the switches report to a true of false, and proceed with the diagnostic tests accordingly. It's important to understand the way the switch reports it's information, as well as how the purge valve operates, and is commanded on/off. Thier's 10 or more posibilities as to what this "might" be. I would start by checking the vacum lines on the back of the intake, below the coil packs, at th purge valve. And all other vacum lines and also make sure all the plug-ins are connected tight/properly. Good Luck
