Windshield?
Hi folks,
Thanks for all the insight into these little beauties! Just curious - does anyone know whether the Alero windshield is the same as the one on the Intrigue('99)? I haven't studied them closely but they appear to be about the same size and having two options to hit the salvage yards with increases my odds... That little chip that I'd been neglecting took a turn for the worse this winter and it looks like a replacement is in order. Thanks again! |

Re: Windshield?
No, they are not the same. The Alero is an "N" body and the Intrigue is a "G" body. The Alero windshield will not fit in an Intrigue. You might want to look at the Buick Century or the Pontiac Grand Prix, they are the same bodies as the Intrigue. I suspect that the Century windshield is the same as the Intrigue. A simple call to your local glass supplier would give you and answer...

Re: Windshield?
Since we're throwing around letters, the Intrigue is a "W" Body not a "G" body. But at any rate, I believe remark is right that they are not the same. If nothing else I believe the Alero is a bit narrower than the Intrigue.
Good idea on calling a glass supplier though.

Re: Windshield?
Thanks guys - was on the road at the time with my computer more handy than a phone and couldn't find anything about cross-references on the safelite website - I'll give them a call and see what they say. Their online quote is only $200 for a new Intrigue one, installed, so not bad...

Re: Windshield?
Thats what I was quoted as well sometime last year, I didn't have to take them up on it then because my tags still had another year left, but to get them renewed this year I have to pass a safety inspection, which means new windshield for me. So I hope their 200 dollar quote is still accurate haha.

Re: Windshield?
Sorry LittleHoov, I guess in my old age I typed the wrong letter. I can't figure out why I typed G, but then all of the new GMs are numerical now anyway!!

Re: Windshield?
Easy way to check this. Goto RockAuto, GMpartsdirect.com and check the part numbers for your windshield. If the other car is the same you are ok.
Better to just go new and have it installed unless you have done a windshield before (piano wire etc) Easiest way: car-part.com find your part and all the cars that have it will come up. |
