Re: Ford Vs. Chevy

Id have to say chevy, Ford has never appealed to me. I like camaros more then mustangs and i love the corvettes. Ill still stick with my import though but american muscle will always be cool.

Re: Ford Vs. Chevy

For old iron, Ford all the way.

For the mid-late 70s, I'd rather have a bike.
For the 80s, its all the same. Either you have a boring looking camaro with an overused SBC, or a boring looking mustang with an overused 5.0. Then again I like Ford's motors better, so I'd probably just go with the mustang.
For 90s, mustangs looked better than the camaros. The newest camaros are so blah and boring. And obviously Ford for the new stuff, no competition from chevy. Corvettes are nice, but I like how a mustang looks more, and for the same ammount of $$ a Cobra can take a z06 vette..(i'm gonna get flamed for that one...). As for the best of both companies... Ford - '69 Mustang Boss 429, Chevy - late '60s vettes... I'd rather have the mustang, but thats just me. For 'big cars', muscle cars, you have the Torino vs the Chevelle... I'm a fan of both. A Torino packin a 429/460 or a Chevelle with a 454... dont make me choose!
So all in all, I'd rather have a Ford, but I wouldn't turn down a chevy. Chevy has had some excellent cars, so has Ford, I just prefer Ford motors. seems like everything has a SBC or BBC in it, even old ford rods!

Re: Ford Vs. Chevy

right now, nothing.. I have the motor pulled and I'm rebuilding it. Its a 351 Cleveland, 2v garage-ported iron heads, main girdle, polished and shot peened stock rods, stock prepped crank, forged high silicon pistons, 1/2 filled block.. garage fabricated headers and intake, custom ground cam, electric water pump.. Fuel injection... And two turbos. Its being built to withstand a good 15psi, air-water intercooled. The block is .030 over, so it comes out to like 358 cubic inches. Power wise, I'm confident it can break 700hp and torque on 15psi with cold water in the intercooler on pump gas(93 octane, R+M/2 method), but my transmission(c4 auto) is only built to take 550hp, so I'm going to limit it to 8psi until I get a new trans. Driveshaft is aluminum, moser aluminum spool in a 9", 3.50 gears, moser 31 spline axle shafts. Either looking into a Satchell type 4 link rear suspension with coil overs, or just keeping the leafs and throwin on some Cal-Tracs.
And thanks for the compliment!

Re: Ford Vs. Chevy

Just because they made some crappy cars, every company has, you should not disregard them. Their good out ways their bad in car production.
