98_Classic, yes the Commander is based off the new Grand Cherokee (which I happen to own...) and is mechanically identical to the GC. They are based off the same platfrom and have the same wheelbase, yet the Commander is like 2 inches longer to accomidate the 3rd row. Which, ironically, seems to be the amount of legroom the 3rd row has. Haha...

98_Classic,

Thanks for the clarification. And yes, the 2006 Jeep Commander is in fact based on the same platform as the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. For a full listing of specifications on both vehicles, feel free to visit the links that I have provided below.

Click on these links and then click on the Specifications links on the menus located on the left-hand side of the page.

Re: 2007 Jeep Commander OFFICIAL PICS!!!

i own a commander, and the 3rd row takes up the whole cargo space, and it gives u little to none leg room. it has stadium like seats, which means, each row of seats can see over the heads of the row infront of them. which is good if ur riding in the back, but bad if ur driving, because it eliminates almost all your view to the back. what i have to do is always use it with the back seats folded down so that i can see, and only lift the seats when it is absolutly necessary.
