2006 Monte LS 3.5

Bought this car in '07 with 8000 mi on it , and as of the last year I had a problem with getting heat when the car is idling and when car takes off I hear a swooshing noise from under the glovebox area. This had been going on for 6 months to a year, my bad for not paying more attn. to this as the car has 59000 mi on it now. A week ago my wife was driving home from work and she noticed the onboard display reading "engine hot A\C off" . When she got home @ 7 am, as she works the midnight shift, she had told me about it, I was concerned,so I decided to take it to the Dealership, i left for the dealership @ 830am and as soon as I started the car the display read "engine hot A\C off" and the temp guage was dead cold.. as i was on my way to the shop, it was blowing heat.Dropped it off with them to check out my concerns. They got back with me and said that the water pump was leaking, both head gaskets were leaking. I did remember reading on this forum of some kind of intake leaks on the 3.5 series, I am wondering if that is the next thing I sould be looking for or wondering about? What other major issues are there? Seems a little harsh,59000 mi and major problems like this! $2200, the total bill, good thing I bought the Extended Service Agreement for $1395, I guess i am money ahead, Thats one way of looking at it. The ESA ends @ 75000 mi. From the Impala,Monte Carlo forums, is there any info as to any other issues I might be looking for before the ESA runs out?Thanks for all replies, Ron
