I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry

So today I did it.. I finally gave up on the civic..

But not to fear honda fans.. I got a new toy, and it's a honda too.

2001 CBR 600 F4I.

My kill list is about to get alot bigger :smoka:

I love(ed) my civic too, but I gotta tell you, I am EXTREMELY happy with my new car. It actually has enough torque to go at a normal speed with 4 people in the car. :smoka:

Talk about torque and power, a flick of the wrist and you can kiss my ass goodbye.

I knew motorcycles were fast and all, but I didn't have any idea until I rode mine. Geeze, I only got hard on the throttle one time, because some jerk was tailgating me (trying to ride within my limits and not kill myself, ya know?). Anyway, I looked back, flipped him the bird and gunned it. Before I knew it the speedometer read 65, 70, 75, 80. Then I realized I was only in first gear, and that scared the hell out of me even worse! 80 in first gear! With 5 more gears to go! I love honda!

the only reason it gets bigger is because a bunch of testosterone charged chumps don't know how to back off and maintain safe distance between me and them. Not like I'm blitzing the bike off every red line. Some of us ride because we enjoy riding, not because we feel we have to redline every gear and race every car that looks like it might think about revving us to compensate for our testicular fortitude, or lack thereof. Not that I'm saying you do.. I'm just making it clear that I don't..

I'm not trying to dog you, especially since you bought a great bike (I now own a 99 Suzuki SV650), but I'm not sure I believe you were going 80 in first gear. In second gear, I would believe you going 80, although the engine would be screaming pretty loud. My friend's 2000 YZF does 90 in THIRD gear, but he's also creeping on redline. I guess I just don't feel like 1st gear on a CBR 600 is geared that tall. Anyway, like I said I'm not trying to call you out or anything, I'm just skeptical about the reality vs. perception in your story. Regardless, congrats on the bike purchase - ride responsibly and enjoy. I'd highly recommend the Rider Safety course if it's offered in your state.

the gearing is completely redone for the new f4i. In addition to being honda's first fuel injected bike, they also made the gearing much closer, particularly in 5th and 6th gear to make top end more easily attainable, while not dramatically increasing it. Redline on the bike is 14k, and I shifted into 80 at second at around 12.5k, so I probably could've hit 85-90 before bouncing off the limiter. the old f4s might not be able to hit that type of speed in 1st, but I assure you the new f4i has no problem doing so. I would say I can post a video, but it's kinda hard to film one handed, and a passenger needs to hang on, all I can say is go get a new f4i and test ride it, see if you can't produce the same results
