It's audio, but not car audio... forgot what my other audio forums are...

I need some help for a friend:

im using spdif out from the integrated sound that goes to a yamaha reciever and from there i have the speaker wire that goes to 2 speakers, and cable (rca cable) from the reciever that goes to a klipsch sub, today the sub started having a rattling sound, and randomly gets louder and when its louder has a crackling sound too. I think its dieing.

This is my sub.
This is my receiver.

Sounds like the sub is blown to me

Try taking a portable source (cd player, ipod, etc) and plug that into the sub to see what it does. Me thinks either the sub or integrated sub amp is on the fritz, testing it with a different source should say without a doubt though.

Long time no see :/. Is mustang still around these forums? I haven't been in here in ages. Your thoughts are on par with mine, but I wanted some input from more knowledgable sources. Thanks man. Been since April since I've been on here. So much going on right now with my life (i.e lost job in April and girlfriend seeing how she cheated on my with my friend even though I did not find out until July, hurricane Katrina slammed the coast where I live and destroyed everything, I got back with my ex-girlfriend and now I'm working on getting my life back together).

Have you done any upgrades to your HTS or your car audio since then?

Which mustang?
Seems like there are people named "mustang" everywhere

Sorry to hear about your problems, Katrina was a bitch to a lot of people. Rita looked like it was going to take us out but then it turned east and smacked Louisiana again, good luck for us I suppose
Nothing new with me, I haven't changed anything in my setup since july except for the sub level in my headunit
Seems like I found the perfect tune, even after listening to something on my headphones (sennheiser hd595) or home system (+/- 1dB on the rta), I'm still satisfied when I get in my car. Probably won't be changing anything for a while. I'm getting a B&K preamp and a new amp for the home stereo though, should be fun.

I actually just got into the headphones. I just ordered a pair of HD 595's and an amp for them, hope they'll do me good. I alos have a pair of AT AD900's.

Good headphones, they do very well with an amp. I've got them, the Grado SR225, Etymotic ER-4P, and Xin Supermacro amp. Pretty much done with headphones, I've got some for every style of music and every listening occasion. Time for home theater now, the next pocket drain

I thought you had that Adire subwoofer for home theatre built? Oh well.

Fryman:
Yep, remember all of y'all. I kind of liked bumpinstang. He helped me design my enclosure for my sub a while back. I still see him on AIM here and there, but never message him for some reason :/. I talk to dilliodon on AIM who hooked me up with my amp from time to time.

Come on CB, it isn't that bad....

Ok, yea it is... At least the home theater part isn't full of that crap, its still pretty good. Plus it is a fast moving forum, so it keeps me occupied.

I've got the Adire Kit 81s and a Behringer DEQ-2496, but they're running off of a Pioneer receiver right now. In a few weeks I'm switching over to a B&K preamp and some amp (don't know which yet, leaning towards a Crown CE-2000....lots of power is fun). Then once I really have some money I'll build some new diy towers using lcy or fountek ribbons, phl midranges, and lambda woofers (if I can still find them at that point) and go active on it all. Anyway, yeah, lots of money, not happening until after graduation in May (except for the preamp/amp, that should be in by January).

I haven't seen most of those guys around in a while, I see GSteg on one of the forums from time to time (I believe it's ECA, either that or SIN).
