Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Hi Jochen,
That's really a very good attention to detail. I noticed the boxes in the headlights on some pictures, but it is really cool that you incorporated them in this model. Keep us posted and thanks for sharing! Regards, Tonie |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Ohhhhh, sorry, already fixed ( by PAYING photobucket's charges..............:-(
Thank you all very much for your kind comments. At least some personal remarks. @John: Thanks!! The molded cables and details are "integrated" in the whole issue by carefully painting the upper surface. Don't try to get the paint down to the contact point / change over to the tub! Sure lots of additional parts were made and placed. Nothing was sanded or removed. By the way, a really fine detailed section from Fujimi. @Tim Bradley: Thanks! Well, hard to tell the finish process in simple and dry words....i'll try to make it very clear and descriptive this time within my posts which are still to come. - No more covering / protective materials / aids or laquers are applied on the pastels. I try to work as close to reality as possible. First you have the (clean) race car, then you have the race itself with ALL THE ACTION and DIRT, and finally you have the result of the race which is obvious on the car's surface. As simple as that ;-) - Of course, that means you won't be able to touch the miniature later on BUT with one-way LATEX-gloves!!!!! But in the very end the miniature should finally be fixed / placed on a small display stand or a wooden base or whatever. Hope that could give you some informations! Stay tuned. The car is already spray-painted!!! Yours Jochen |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
You are an Artist, Jochen.
I fear all the superlatives have been already spent and it’s difficult to issue a smart comment. In your (holy) hands everything comes to life. I read the thread two times, silently admiring what you’re doing… The central wheel locking, the exhaust, the dash wiring, the cockpit itself… not to mention the absolutely crazy job you did on the Hans and helmet. Really THANK YOU, thanks for sharing this with us. Robi |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
....dirty feet.....
Let me show you my latest results. I just finished the wheels for my 997. The metal rims and the brake discs are both from the range of superb products from Mikezibit / scaleproduction. The metal rims are by now replaced by his new plastic inserts, even more shiny in chrome. I wanted the metal pieces for some reasons and got them almost a year ago. First of all a careful wash was given with artists oil colors, a anthracit tone was mixed therefore. After one hour of drying the brake discs were carefully cleaned with a piece of cotton fabric. A fantastic result can be achieved and the shiny discs will stand in a nice contrast to the weathered rims and slicks. You can see the difference between the clean one (left) and the washed one (right) The discs come out very nice, giving the parts the necessary depth. The central lockings were painted with a mixture from Tamiya silver X11 and clear blue / clear red. Then a mixture was made out of cigarette ashes, baking powder and grinded black acryl. The surface of the slicks were watered with a mix from white glue and warm water. Then the tyre is rolled through the substance and can be worked later on. The result is a nice, race battered and worn off look of a racing tyre / slick!!! The marks on the tyre walls are customized decals (not available by now....;-) and show the starting number of my car, set number and position. The bar codes are hand painted with a paste made out of water and grinded white acryls. A very useful painting substance! Then the rims are SEPERATELY spray painted from BEHIND with a flat black color, giving the first layer of brake dust. Then the slicks are put on the rims and a second, VERY CAREFUL layer of a lightened color (kind of dark grey) is sprayed from the front. Thats it for now, folks. Next the weathering of the 997 itself is about to start. Good fight, good night! Jochen Last edited by jochen kieslich; 05-09-2012 at 11:46 PM. |

I've been following your build from the start. Your attention to detail is most impressive and the end result is going to be something to be very proud of

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Hi all,
like a lot of you already mentioned the 24h of the Nürburgring took place last weekend with the victory of the PHOENIX-Audi R8. Fascinated and motivated by the impressions i just finished the body of my GT3R so far. Some small details are still missing and will be fixed later on. The tyres are not fixed by now and therefore they may appear a bit warped in the wheel arches. The hole livery is fantasy, so as the logos at the doors and the lettering "loop-logics". The logos were made out of left over dry transfers from Mecanorma and lots of hand painting. The Clarion-decal on the rear spoiler is cut in pieces and rearranged in a new width. I also changed the wheels, Mike was right by not being convinced by them at all. The appearance was too dark!!! So i just flatened his new product, the fantastic ones with the multiple mounting system. The look is more realistic than before. I couldn't find one picture with the polished BBS rims being covered with that much brake dust as i put on them.......and again, LESS IS MORE!!!! I deciced not to overdo it with decals, i need some space for some other effects, especially at the rear which is really unspectacular BY NOW. But wait. So please have a last look at the Porsche before it will be treated the right way....;-) As you might imagine, some decals are customized with the support of two members of the AF, mwhh and mikezibit. Please accept my kindest thanks for your help, friends! Things wouldn't go as they do without you. Next time i'll present the finished car with a step by step presentation of my finishing "activities". Thats all for now. Good fight, good night! jochen Last edited by jochen kieslich; 05-22-2012 at 12:51 AM. |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
first of all the model is great and your skill is incredible jochen.
Btw on a model that is gonna be dirt and used I dont like the toysh blinking wheel finish. I prefer your previous ones. Also looking at the pics taken from ring cars, they are not at all any longer chromed only after 2 laps, and even more on a track with thousands of breaking points as the ring is. Also, the decal work is impressive, but on such beauty model u are creating I would choose one of the million real existing ones available on the market (also decaldoc makes many of theme). Those are only my personal considerations without keeping away value to this really nice model.
