Duralast battery vs. Stock batt.

I just put a Duralst battery in my 2000 328Ci it has the same amount of amps as the stock does. Should there be any differences or problem with this??

Re: Duralast battery vs. Stock batt.

As long as it has the same or more vertical clearance as stock (usually by using recessed posts) AND connection for the gas venting tube, you're fine. You don't want battery gas building up in the trunk near your fuel tank! I put an Autolite of exact dimensions and specs in my wifes 98 318i, $89 at Kragen (same as Schuck's or Checker). Sears was $129 and heaven knows what BMW dealers charge!!!

I would recommend to call you dealer and see if they approve the model.

Re: Duralast battery vs. Stock batt.

Your new battery will be fine. The manufacturer doesn't matter as long as all the specs match up battery type vs. battery type. In the USA there are only 3 manufactures of batteries (automotive). So, some one is repackaging lots of brands. I used to work in foreign car parts stores selling parts. Some BMW guys are fanatics about things being original stuff. I recall a guy who drove a 2002 back in 1971 who went nuts looking for "German battery water" for his ride. I asked him if he wanted regular or the heavy water left over from the German war effort.

Not sure if you notice the OP was 4 years old. In any case, I've heard good comments about (DuraLast 49-DL) battery from Autozone and fits perfectly in our cars. All this time, I've only used oem batteries. Might try duralast next time.
