99 Continental P/S pump relacement??????

Does anyone have experience doing one of these? How does the pump come out? The rack was leaking for a long time and the pump finally failed. I need to replace it first then the rack. Any descriptions, pics or links would be greatly apprectiated.

Wow.. that's a tall order! Do you have a PC and able to download 170mb? I have your FSM, the procedures you need are in there.

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Re: 99 Continental P/S pump relacement??????

The 4.6L engine on the Continental is very tight and make access to the pump very difficult- the power steering pump is mounted off the engine block in an inaccessible location. Try some power steering sealer which will swell the seals and reduce leakage. Otherwise drop the car off at your mechanic as the AC will have to be disconnected to get access as well as serpentine belt removal. It's a pain to work on, you'll also have to remove the radiator coolant overflow and unbolt the power steering reservoir.
