1996 lumina 3.1

173,000 miles

Since I purchased it in 2000, i've replaced the battery, alternator, power window guts on the driver window (PAIN IN THE ASS). The radiator, transmission & engine all LEAK oil/coolant! Yay.

Re: How Many Miles on Your Lumina

'97, 116,000, 1 battery, 1 water pump, 1 serp belt, 1 set of plugs. Regular service (synthetic oil, w/Slick 50 every 50,000), no problems. Uses no oil, leaks nothing. Everything works perfectly. Best car I've ever owned. "Check Engine" light comes on about every three months, we go for a 90 mph blast for a few miles, light is gone.

Re: How Many Miles on Your Lumina

my winter beater is a 91 with 225k, no major problems. bought it for $100, someone thought a plug was stuck in the head during a tune up and needed a tear down to fix. I got the plug out and have been driving it since. doesn't use oil, gets 25+ mpg and drives excellent. The only thing I've done is put brakes on it.

91 3.1L euro, 190,000k (119,000m)

Cost me $2100 CDN last January, a little overpriced considering how many things I've done to it. Never saw it in the daylight until after I bought it (shopping for cars after work in january in Alberta is not the best time). When I did see it in the light of day I realized it had been fairly badly abused by it previous owners. But the handling and acceleration were what pulled be into the buy, and I have since fallen in love with it for these reasons. The cost of repair was mostly in time rather than money anyway.

99 Lumina LTZ. Black, leather, sun roof. Surprised me how quick the little beast was when we bought it. 95K now. Will give to my daughter once she starts driving. I guess I will have to fix that sun roof then.

Thumbs up Re: How Many Miles on Your Lumina

my 97 Lumina is just about to cross over into the 100K mile mark

The only things I have replaced are a fan belt, water pump, added a can of r134-a refigerant and the master switch thing for the power windows, and a new hood after some idiot literally backed his raised 4-Runner on top of my Lumina and then had the nerve to drive off leaving me screamingat the top of my lungs

(and the regular maintenance stuff aswell)

It still goes strong and I drive the hell out of that thing day in and day out

Re: How Many Miles on Your Lumina

I have 1990 3.1 Euro with 219,459 on it, but sadly, it blew a head gasket and while in the process, the block cracked where the gasket failed. In over 100,000 miles before that, however, I only replaced the alternator and performed gen. maintenance. I got a new engine for free though, and it's back running strong again!

Thumbs up Mileage....

I got 220,000 on my 1990 baby! Runs very good... excellent highway car, crappy city car.

Only major problem is that there is always a gas smell when engine running... and no, it's not the evaporator...
