Re: Cheap performance mods?

how much does it cost to get a decent exhuast on the early lumies? i want to give my lumi some bite to its growl. most of the car stores say that they dont have anything thats compatible. but i suspect that they are idiots because the guy i talked to seem more interested in this phone call with someone im pretty sure wasn't a customer. anyway i also wanted to ask does a 94 lumina have a welded on exhaust? maybe im looking for the wrong thing but i dont think i see any brackets.

You have to custom make one for your car, or have a muffler shop do it for you. In my car I have a straightpipe running through the cat (so it looks like I have a cat, but I really don't), and a gineric 3A racing straightpipe muffler. It has a nasty growl to it, it soulds feraking awesome!

I have a glasspack on my '91, it sounds pretty good (you just have to install it backwards, it'll give it a deeper tone!), a glasspack will only run you $15 at your local autoparts store

And your cat, well that's a whole other story. If you want your car to be really loud you can remove the insides of it, and that's free!
