Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Is the Monaco launch brochure a good book? Is it the same as DA but in a different cover? Or is there more info in there?

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

While there is some shared content, the Monaco Launch Brochure is not the same as DA. Keep in mind it was printed in 1992 and so the only F1 that existed at that point wasn't an F1 at all - it was the Clinic Model. Most of the photos in the Launch Brochure are from the quarry shoot by Colin Curwood. There are also various shots of internal parts and some exploded views. It's very well done.

Originally I didn't really want a brochure - there's some old posts in here where I described my reasoning - but once I got my hands on one I was pretty pleased with it. It helped that I paid about half price for mine compared to what many of them had changed hands for previously.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Well, I added another book to my collection yesterday. I have been mulling over buying this for a while, ever since the F1 owner who contacts me from time to time recommended it to be the best version.

I finally took the plunge and bought the Le Mans edition of Driving Ambition, and picked it up from the Technology Centre yesterday afternoon. I didn't realise that, from the original run of 1000 Limited Edition books, 59 were chosen and made into the Commemorative Edition. I haven't read it yet, just looked at it and taken a few snaps of the outside.

I have #35/59

And that's an awesome book you've got your hands on - well done!!!
Thanks!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Sorry for resurrecting this topic, but I was looking for some advice/opinions/encouragement...I'm giving serious thought to ordering the LeMans edition of the McLaren F1 book. I'm in the US, so I would appreciate feedback from any US members who have ordered any versions of the book from McLaren.
I'm assuming they still have some in stock; it doesn't indicate to the contrary on their website.....
Has anyone seen or purchased this version? Some feedback would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have the Le Mans version as per the posts above [although I am UK based]. Whilst I was there Henry - who did the tour for me - did say there were only a few left, and bear in mind I got #35/59, there seems to be 24 left, but the last is being auctioned off for charity, and a few people were lucky enough to buy the number that mirrored the chassis # they own therefore a few between 36 and 58 have already gone.

If you can spare the money its definitely worth it, both for the content and the potential future value of them once all are sold
