Unhappy 1989 cougar 3.8L non-turbo very hard start cold

I have an 89 cougar that is very difficult to start when cold. It runs fine once it starts and warms up. I have a chiltons manual, but it does not have a diagram indicating where the various sensors are located. Does anyone know where ACT or ECT sensors are located? Please email me.
