1999 Chevy Blazer problems with Brakes

I recently bought a 1999 Chevy Blazer from a local dealership and have had various problem with the vehicle. I am now having a problem with the brakes had them checked out from the dealership told it was the right front hub assembly, bought it, and it didnt fix the problem, to me i think they are screwing me over in every way they can. The problem is when i apply the brakes sometime the brakes feel really spongy and make a motor noise and a clicking noise and you can feeling the clicking with steady pressure when the problem is happening. Any suggestions is alot of help. PLEASE HELP.

Re: 1999 Chevy Blazer problems with Brakes

Is the ABS activating (like a swoshing noise) or is the pedal grabbing /Blazer pulsing as you stop (rotors) or if only spongy (air in system bleed)? Need more specfics. Hubs grind and contain the ABS sensors and the rear sensor is in the transfer (4wd) or trans (2wd). Could be rear calipers also as they can bind and the slide pins in the brackets freeze up - check them and the front slides also.

Re: 1999 Chevy Blazer problems with Brakes

When I press the brakes i hear a humming sound that almost sounds like a motor kicking on. Then as the brakes goto the floor they become soft and i can hear and feeling a click noise until it goes to the floor. I am sorry these are the only details i can give you.

If it were me I would bleed the brakes completely. Whlie filling with new clean fluid.
Then if it still does it disable the abs. I think there is a fuse or you can pull the electrical connectors. Then try it again.

Sounds like the ABS speed sensors have some problems causing the ABS to kick in when they shouldn't.

Take it back and demand they fix it. You have a warranty and they are just trying to snowball you until it is done.

He has a warranty and they are just bluffing him until it os gone.

I would buy an extended warranty if I was going to keep this truck ASAP.

Watch them squeal as you try to buy it. They might even lie.

Where does it say he has a warranty?

When you buy a vehicle from a dealer there is always a 30 day warranty.

Re: 1999 Chevy Blazer problems with Brakes

I don't know much just what I read in his first thread but he said it was a dealership so I am thinking Chevy,Ford like that not some Diamond Jim car lot on the conner which if that is the case he is up the creek. But if it was a big dealership and they checked out the truck said it was OK and he has it in writing or a check list where it was inspected by them or he had someone there that can back up hearing them telling him it was OK and that is what is wrong with the brakes now and was never and he raises enough stink to the service manager then if that don't do no good go up front to the general manager then the big man and if he still will not fix it send a letter to what ever Manufacturer he is selling for and voice your opinion stand up for your buyer's rights.

Well I would say of course if there is an inspection check list, or an implied warranty, drop the thing off with the keys and the title and tell them "fix it or keep it!".

Re: 1999 Chevy Blazer problems with Brakes

I had the same problem turned out to be a the abs wire/sensor. A quick and easy way to make sure it is the ABS is to pull the ABS fuse. The ABS light on the dash will come on, but if the problem goes away you've definetly determined the problem is in the ABS. One down side is I couldn't find a store who would sell just the wire/sensor. It comes as a set with the hub. Fortunately for me I had replaced the hub a while back and had a lifetime warranty.

Good luck

Can the rear brake calipers binding up cause the ABS to come on?
