Bug engine fit into Bus?

Never had a bus but found a nice Westie with a broken rod. i have a great 72 Type 1 engine, will it fit? I don't see many mentions of type 2 engines so I'm hoping mine will fit. Want to know before I buy the Bus.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Bug engine fit into Bus?

Its been long years since I ducked under the tail end of a bus - but I think the engines will fit IF; they both have the fan in the same place. Werent the fans driven directly from the crank on the buses in 72? And the sheet metal around the engine from the bus would be needed.

Re: Bug engine fit into Bus?

What year is your bus? It depends on the year. It will fit if your bus is a 67 or earlier. 1968 they changed a lot of things on the bus including the mounting. 1972 they changed even more including the motor. They went to a pancake style 914 1.7 motor.
