pistons and rods

so i would like to get some pistons and rods to start building my motor for my 85 z31, but i dont know where to go to get parts. i dont know if id be better off trying the impossible and finding any kind of aftermarket support for my car or if i should go custom or just use z32 pistons and rods. as custom goes i dont know much about bore or stroke so if anyone has info about that to order parts that would be greatly appreciated. just any advice would be appreciated anyhow. thanks

Re: pistons and rods

I'd hit some of the Z31 specific websites like z31.com, z31performance.com and 88hybrid.com/forum. They can probably help you out more. If you're looking for a straight rebuild with OEM stuff then any place that sells Nissan parts can get what you need. If you just need a running motor I'd look for something used as the cheapest option.

What are you planning?

Re: pistons and rods

well, im lookin to make power and i would like a good strong bottom end to start with, i know the rods are forged from factory but i would like the full floating piston like the later models have, better for gaining rpm's quicker. anyhow im lookin for a power build, somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-800hp, realistically closer to six hundered, but i need a bottom end to stand up to it

Re: pistons and rods

z32 pistons and rods is what you want. much more plentiful and should fit right into your block. i'm not sure of the bore size, but if they match it's all fine.
