Transmission Clunk?

Hi there everyone!

I have never really used this forum before but i should start.

Here is my problem with my car.

I have a 2006 G6 3.5L 4dr with a transmission noise. 120000kms

The noise is as follows.

Drive car at any speed over crawling speed.
Pop car into neutral.
When car gets to a almost stopped state.
CLUNK!!!
I did not change the shifter position or nothing!
It sound like if your trans has an issue going into gear! Like that sort of clunky bang sound???

It will clunk every time i try this!!!!

The trans to my knowledge is the 4t45e

I work on Imports really so i dont know much about US cars....

Thanks!!

Tom

Re: Transmission Clunk?

Why are you putting the tranny in neutral before a stop?

Re: Transmission Clunk?

Doesn't your car have abs?

Your roads are that bad you have to do this? I mean, once you take your foot off the gas pedal there is not much torque to the wheels to overcome.....should not have to do this....

Re: Transmission Clunk?

Yes i do have ABS.

Its just in winter mainly. It can get really REALLY slick out here in canada.

I do have snow tires for it. Good snow tires too.

It not like this noise is the end all to my car.

Its just very odd to me.

I have driven many many cars and done this same action to each car i have ever had.

My old 93 Lumina never did this. My Intrigue does not do this either.

I thinks my lumi had a 3t40 and Intrigue 4t65e. They dont do this N clunk.

I just think the car should NOT do this. You go try this in your car and it should NOT do this!

Re: Transmission Clunk?

But the other thing is, it wasn't meant to be driven like this either....
