Unhappy Radio Display on 328i

The LED display on my radio is so dim I can barely see it. Dealer says he can't do anything but replace the radio. Any ideas on a fix?

Thats a load of crock!
you simply need to remove the radio from the dash and replace the bulbs...about $2 each... I recently did this on my radio/cassette and the information area for temp etc.
go to an autoparts store and buy a manual for you model.
extracting the radio is a piece of cake! Just make sure you disconnect the battery first...

I have the same problem on my 96 328.... I've taken the radio out but I haven't seen how to actually get inside the radio to fix these so called bulbs. Lemme know.

Part II

Well, I got the radio out, but the LED unit is sealed, so I don't know how to get at any bulbs.
A couple of days later, I noticed that the display was fully bright! It stayed that way for a couple of days. Then, today it was dim again. I banged on it and tried different combinations of turning it on an off to no avail. When I got home, I noticed it's bright again. Obviously it's intermittent, but I haven't figured what it correlates to. I guess I'll just live with it for now...

Angry Radion LED!!!

I have exactly the same problem with my radio LED display. I took it to the nearest dealership and they told me that it would cost US$350 to fix it!!!!

Same problem here, we ended up just buying a used oem deck off e-bay for about 75 bucks, works like new.

Same Problem - Covered by Warranty?

I just bought my car last week from the local BMW dealer. Since the 1 Mo. Warranty is not exclusive of electronics, could I have the unit replaced?

Re: Radio Display on 328i

this happened to me as well 1998 328......it was intermitant for a while but seems to be pretty permanent now.....oddly enough, once I turned the entire dash dimmer down low and quickly turned it back up and it went back to bright...but just for a day or 2.....
