hard up shift into 2nd

my buddie has a dts with the 4T80E tranny im unsure or year it has heads up night vision 2000 -03? but when tranny shifts in to 2nd gear its a really hard up shift its a hard grab... tranny does not slip and shifts fine into and out of any gear but 2nd.. anybody had same problem or know if it can be a vaccume related problem??

How many miles? Has the tranny fluid ever been changed? Sometimes those problems are caused by sticking or failing shift solenoids and the fluid change solves the problem. As a last shot before dropping the valve body you might try some Lucas TransFix. I'm not much of a believer in additives to alleviate a mechanical problem, but they do have their place.

the car has 77 k on it.. it has been flushed and it didnt change a thing.. thanks for the reply!!

This should be scanned ( only a trans capable scanner will work) for possible problems with the shift solenoid or the pcs solenoid, as Df bonnet says, the adaptive shift percentages can point to the problem

kennedy transmission flushed it and scanned it thy said it didnt pull back any codes.. that tranny is expensive too he doesnt want to change it..

It is not a matter of codes, it is a matter of analyzing live data from the trans info.
