$27,000 ($5,000 down), which would you have?

So here is my situation, I use to drive a VR4, wrecked it, now drive a Sentra GXE. My plan within the next 12 months is to get me another fast car for $27,000 and under (also put $5,000 down) continue on with my goal of hitting the 11s. I’ve already pretty much have my mind set on what this car will be and it’s going to be a used 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. I have my reasons for this selection such as being easy to modify and great all around performance, I’m a big Mitsubishi fan, and I love the look. Now that’s just my opinion, but I did have a list of other cars I considered. This list included 2003 Nissan 350Z, 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe, 2002 Honda S2000, 2004 Subaru WRX STI, 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4, 2003 Mazda RX-8, and if possible a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. So I ask you this, if you were also looking for a fast car, that you have plans on modifying this car to be very fast at that drag strip and streets, and the price tag had to be at $27,000, and the car year you are looking for is no older than a 1999. Which of these cars would most interest you? If not these cars, any other suggestions?

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

2003 Nissan 350Z

2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe

2002 Honda S2000

2004 Subaru WRX STI

2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4

2003 Mazda RX-8

1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4

the rx8's and SRT-4's go for considerably less then 27k IIRC

for me it would be between the g35, evo and sti
I picked the G35coup becuase one.. its a coup and looks really nice and classy. 2nd would be the STI or EVO.

i voted evo...
but it's a tough one...
the srt4 with the stock LSD is a good car, in the straights AND in the corners...

so it's a draw for those 2 cars.

^i don't think they make an AWD g35 coupe yet.^

i voted g35 coupe but it was a tough choice between that and the EVO.

Except an Evo isn't a sleeper.

I'd get a G35 if I was going to drive it day to day, an Evolution if I wanted an easy machine to mod and a car to race- or maybe an STi

A Skyline, are you sure, that's pretty cheap for a Skyline? I know Motor Rex seels them, but even early models are still very expensive, and newer models cost well over $27,000. As far as the NSX, the only way I could get a NSX for that price, is to go with a 91 or 92 model, and while I give the NSX major props, I just wouldn't want a car that old. That's why I specified 1999 or newer.

Me personally I would never buy a car off of ebay or over the internet period.

i would pick the g35 coupe, its almost like the 350z, except a lil slower, but has 2 more seats, which i think is more useable, and is about the same when u try to mod them, and i love the exhaust note, in fact if i get a nissan se-r (cars im deciding between in my info) i will probably try to convert the exhaust into the g35/350z exhaust

Re: $27,000 ($5,000 down), which would you have?

I went with the 350Z for the several reasons. It has more than comparable performance to most other cars in this class. Also, to me it is by far the best looking car, the most purposeful looking car under 30k. Also, the several tenths of a second saved with a couple of the other cars really don't mean too much to me since I don't rice or drag.

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Lancer very good choice...would have to rank it in the top 3...looks are not bad...performance is amazing...dunno if it's reliable yet though...but I would say the build quality is very good

2003 Nissan 350Z

Hard to get this into the 11's w/o a kit...does NOT look as good as it could have...so in terms of looks...eh...performance for an NA V6...stupendous...

2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe

Better looking than the 350z...equal performer...just a bit pricier!

2002 Honda S2000

Again...very hard to get this into the 11's..period! Doesnt respond well to mods...except for a supercharger where they got 350hp...very nice...but I dont think that's 11's territory yet...

2004 Subaru WRX STI

I really like the WRX STi...top 3 choice definitely...not as good handling as the Evo...but makes up for it w/a bit more power...more unique choice I think than the Evo.

2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4

SRT-4...well...it's American...and it's a Neon STILL...but a fast one and cheap as hell...remains to be seen if it's going to be reliable at ALL

2003 Mazda RX-8

Same here...reliable...dunno yet...it's still a rotary...and I am suspicious...hard to get into the 11's w/o a kit...which I dunno if I have seen an yet...so...not my choice...good looking though

1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4

Too heavy...

TOO HEAVY and yet it will kick all those other car's ass except for EVO and STI. VR4S are awesome and i believe there are only a few of them so they are rare. best looking car in my opinion.
