Re: Porsche 924 GTS Rallye

Wow, AFXracing! Great subject again! I have a Monogram 924 in my stash too, to make the rally 924 I only have little info on the interior and engine bay but I'll look in my books, maybe will find some useful pics, I can share. Great start with the wheelarches although I would suggest to place them higher, since on the original, they were almost at the height of the side featureline on the rear and went above it on the front. In fact, on the front it had a little extension on the horizontal part of the fenders. Those arches were really proud and big!

Re: Porsche 924 GTS Rallye

Thanks Paolo. Corrrado yes to be absolutely accurate the wheel arch extensions would reach the top of the fenders. I suspect the 924 hood slopes down more steeply than the 944 body I am using. I have made the wheel arches as large as the inner wheels wells would allow. To make them larger would require creating new inner fender wells and that would present a whole new series of challenges. I don't have the Monogram 924 kit to see if it would have been a better starting point.

Re: Porsche 924 GTS Rallye

The book 'Porsche the rally story' has a bunch of outside photos from various angles of Rohrl's car. Nothing of the interior or engine bay.

Thanks malscar, I have that book. I have about 25 Porsche books in my collection but none have interior or engine bay photos of the (2) works 924 GTS rallye cars Porsche built.

This is what she looks like standing on her own. I created the (4) inter-cooler intake openings between the headlights.

Re: Porsche 924 GTS Rallye

It’s not appropriate to call this a 924 GTS due to several compromises I have had to make. So I can continue the build and maintain integrity I am going to refer to it from now on as a 944 Turbo Rally. Porsche never created such a car, to the best of my knowledge, so this will be semi-fictitious "fantom" build.
