Check engine light - not. 2000 ZX2

Love this place, it helped me solve the knocking intake manifold on my wifes Windstar, now I'm hoping to get more insight from the experts. Just bought my son a 2000 ZX2. 186,000 miles (cheap first car) runs and drives great, little rough idle, but all in all runs well considering the age. The previous owner indicated he had the timing belt replaced at about 150k miles. Problem is, I DO NOT have a service engine soon light AT ALL. The light does not come on when the key is turned to the on position nor when the engine starts. I decided to check the codes and do have a P0340 code (cam position sensor circuit fault). I can clear it, but as soon as I start the car, the code comes back, but no service engine soon light. I'm not too concerned about repairing the problem, I just want the light to be functioning again so it will pass inspection. Anyone have any experience with this?

Have you checked if the bulb is burned out?

Re: Check engine light - not. 2000 ZX2

yep finally tore the dash apart. It is a burned bulb. I was expecting the worst. Now, where in the heck is this cam position sensor? I have read on here you have to remove the fuel rail to see it? Does that mean relieving the pressure first? I have my haynes manual on the way but any help would be appreciated.
