AF Model Of The Year 2009

Gah, it's December. I hope you bloody Antipodeans are enjoying your summer. But meanwhile-

Yes, AFMOTY is back for 2009!

Builders will submit their best image of their best finished car or bike model from 2009, and members will vote for their favorite.

* AF members who have joined AF BEFORE the 1st December 2009 may enter.
* Open to model cars, trucks, and bikes only.
* Entries must be completed this year (2009), between the dates of 1/1/2009 and 12/31/2009 by AF members registered before 1st December 2009.
* Deadline for entries is 31st December 2009.
* Only ONE model may be entered per person.
* The Judges decisions will be FINAL.

Format will be the same as last year. Builder's usernames will not be displayed with their entry image. Entry images will have an entry number and a model description (e.g. 31. Lamborghini Jota). If you recognize some of the builds and know their builders, great. If you recognize all of the builds and know their builders, you may very well be the AF Car Modeling Member OF The Year. But votes are for builds, not builders.

HOW TO ENTER Entries are now closed

Send a PM to me (MPWR) entitled: MOTY (Your username)

Example: MOTY gionc

Include: ONE image of your model. Image must be NO LARGER than 800 x 600 pixels. The image must be hosted with a large, reputable durable image hosting service such as photobucket or imageshack. No images hosted on personal websites or other small/obscure/unknown hosting services

Include: A short title/description of the subject of your build. See last year's entries for examples.

Include: A link to the thread for your build in either Completed or In Progress sections. This is to verify that the build is your own. The link will not be shown with your image on the MOTY entries thread. Your build will be represented by one image and a title only.

Entries that do not follow this format will not be accepted.

HOW TO VOTE

* Voting will start on or about January 2, 2010 when the Official AFMOTY 09 Entries thread is posted, and will run for two weeks.
* Each model will be identified by its number and description.
* To vote, simply send a PM to both 360spider and MidMazar with your vote. Include both usernames in the recipient window of your PM
* In the title window of your voting PM, place MOTY votes: (your username) ex- MOTY votes: gionc
* Votes not received by both 360spider and MidMazar will not be counted
* You can allocate points to THREE (3) MODELS.

1st=3pts
2nd=2pts
3rd=1pt

* Identify the builds you wish to apply your votes to by their entry number and description
* NO OTHER VOTING METHODS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Votes sent to me will not be counted
* Only AF members that joined BEFORE 1st December 2008 may vote. This is intended to avoid the possibility of people logging on with different names to vote again. If a vote is suspect, it will be investigated and if necessary deleted along with any involved entries.
* You CAN NOT vote for your own model.
* The judges decision will be FINAL.
* In the event of a tie, the model that received the most 3pt votes will be declared the winner. If still a tie - then the most 2pt votes.

A big thanks goes to 360spider and MidMazar for helping put this event on.

Good luck, have fun, and let's see your best from 2009!!

Thanks in advance for your work - just one question:

No images hosted on personal websites
Why? Having a place where I could store my pictures as I want without having them deleted at some point was one of the main reasons for getting my own site...

Thanks for doing this again, Andy.

Surely this is a copy-paste artefact?

OK, I have our first entry- who's going to be next?

Coool prize, thanks Gio!

Long ago (like when Tamiya still make kits of rally cars), it used to be that only images hosted on AF could be entered. These days photobucket seems to be the best option.

Yeah, I missed that. I'll change it back to 2007.

Well, its sitting on the shelf with few hundred of his buddies :-)
TBH, I have no time for a serious project right now, and I can't build box-stock anymore, so I'm in quite a pickle here!

Re: AF Model Of The Year 2009

They've fallen off to zero.

I got a half dozen in the first few days, but nothing for nearly a week now.

I think you should maybe make a new thread that everybody who wants to join should do it soon.
I completely forgot about since I never really look at the sticky threads... since they usually are just faqs and stuff like that. I even posted on the 3rd here but wasn't aware that you already accepted entry's even if it is the same every year . Maybe I am just a bit stressed and overlooked it but it might be a good idea to put out a reminder to everyone...

I just sent my entry

Re: AF Model Of The Year 2009

Yeah Andy, I thought it was still early to send in entries.
New (non-sticky) thread would be good. I for one never check stickies.
