01 escape starts than dies

I have a 01 escape v6 ,intermit maybe once a week will start than die only way to keep running is hold down gas to about 2k rpms after a few minutes it will run ok. Any ideas?

Is the check engine light on? That will indicate you have a code of a serious nature. Some codes don't cause the check engine light to come on. First thing I would do is go to an auto parts store, like autozone or advance auto parts, and ask them if they would check your vehicle for any codes. They do it for free. They want to make money off selling you parts, and they can't sell you parts if you don't know what you need. If there are no codes, it could be alot of things. Does it only happen in cold weather? Could be one of the intake sensors. Happen any weather? Could be dirty fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, fuel pump going bad and not giving enough pressure, egr vacuum solenoid switch, the list just goes on and on.
