sunroof seal
Has anyone noticed any leakage in Xterra Sunroof or whistling at high speeds?
I have a 2001 SE and have noticed that when the gear rack is removed, my sunroof seems to make a lot of noise when I get over ~70 mph on the highway. Also was dripping a little (VERY slowly) during a recent major rainstorm. Has anyone experienced similar issues? What is the solution/fix for this? Thx |

The latch might just be loose. If you remove the little cover on the latch you will see a couple adjustment nuts. Just loosen those (if they aren't already) and pull the latch tighter while the sunroof is open and tighten down the nuts. You don't want to get it too tight or it will be hard to operate and will crush the seal too much, but it should be snug. I had the same problem with air coming through mine and that's all it took to fix it. If that doesn't fix yours then maybe it needs a new seal.
