06 Charger Catalytic converter removal

My friend has a 2006 charger, R/t hemi 5.7. he just put some flow masters on it, i think they were the 40 series. and had them dumped just before the differential. he was told to have the catalytic converters taken off to make it louder and give it more horses. besides the obvious set back of not being able to get it inspected here in texas ( which we can get around) does anyone advise against this.

Re: 06 Charger Catalytic converter removal

You won't gain much power because your current engine tuning is optimized to a stock or near-stock setup and you won't be getting any more air INTO the engine. Maybe consider it after you get a supercharger. Removing them now will just make the engine run lousy and be ungodly loud.
