Can't get old fuel filter out of my Rodeo

Can't budge the rubber line off the old fuel filter leading back to the tank on my 2001 Rodeo. It's not helping that I can't get the clamp far enough back on the hose, it's possible I'm not clearing the end of the filter. Maybe there's a special tool for this that I don't now about? Even so it seems the line itself is stuck to the old filter. Any secrets I don't know about besides cutting the line and somehow replacing it.

I know they are on there tight... I think I just put a rag over the hose and then clamp on with a pliers and twist it back and forth...

No way in hell that fuel line is coming off. I've grabbed it with pliers while twisting the filter and tried prying it off with a screw driver and even the edge of a chisel all to no avail. That rubber has been shrink rapped around the filter outlet from exhaust heat.

Re: Can't get old fuel filter out of my Rodeo

I know its and old question but to help future peeps. I had this problem yesterday on my wife's truck. I went and purchased new rubber hoses and the good clamps and then I just cut the old ones off with utility knife after measuring them and cutting the new to the correct leangths.. No problems.
