Re: Ferrari 599 Hamann
Ramon brought a Sauber C9 Lemans 1989 winner to the Ferrari Expo partly finished. He won the best of show for this 599 Ferrari model.

Re: Ferrari 599 Hamann
Detailing chassis and body…
And well, after a long pause I’m back with the last installment of this build, but first, thank you Entau, Stuart, bri g, Tom, Bill, 91p10nizmo, Stevenski, Justin, Roberto, Emil, Olivier, Dadimix, rollin80s, sbvwfanatic, cjsbosox, Cesar, Chuck, Dennis, joegtr, ben_gsr2s, gtziaf, Ashley, stevetam, lim., Style Model 27 and Kamil for your very nice words!! Quote:
Believe me, after trying something more than 5 times, you really learn something… Quote:
Quote:
I really don’t know, I started this car more than 2 years ago, but since then a lot of things happened, I moved from the US to Mexico, started another kit, stopped building for awhile, etc, may be 11 to 12 months effective work. I build very slowly anyway. Ferrari 430 Challenge cup (quick build out of the box, at least I’ll try) and then a detailed Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Quote:
And onto the works... Back to the chassis the next parts to machine are exhaust tips that have to be replaced because Hamann equips their versions with 90 mm diam tips, aluminum tube is used here... Some polishing… To cut the 4 machined parts at the same angle, the Dremel is mounted at an angle in the work station to be used as a drill pres ... Machined plastic rod to mount the exhaust tips to the rear silencers... Assembled in place … Before assembling the body to the chassis, the last details are added to the interior trimming, as reading lamps, buttons etc... Round bezels are made with fine wire for the turn signals at the fenders... At the front, grill, mesh and the "Cavallino Rampante" are added... Mesh for the side air intakes… Rear upper wing... And the body is assembled to the chassis... Ride height is verified to ensure everything is correct and that the four wheels touch the floor at the same time... Details are added to the engine bay covers, the VIN number plate is made with tin sheet and the decal from the Revell kit... The "599" emblem is provided by the "CM" detail set... The "599" without the Hamann aerodynamic elements... And with the Hamann aerodynamics mounted... The rear diffuser requires adjust links which are made with AcuStion Anchor Hook set, hypodermic needle and aluminum wire... The rear diffuser assembled to the body... Then is turn for the rear wing which will be made out of plastic sheet, to start, a pattern is created with cardboard... Plastic strips of 0.33 and 0.59 mm thickness are cut and bent to shape; the thin strip in the middle of the picture will make the rear lip of the wing... Everything is glued with liquid cement… The supports to fix the wing to the body… Rounded borders and sanding to shape... Test fit of the completed rear wing... Then the wing goes to the painting process, the carbon fiber decaling and clear lacquer… While the clear coats of the rear wing cure, it is turn of the engine hood detailing, so, mesh, hinges and latch are added… Once the engine covers are mounted, the last paint details are done and the car is only waiting for the Hood to be in place… And the Ferrari 599 Hamann is complete!... Well my friends this is it, I’m very happy to finally bring this model to an end, I’m very satisfied with the results, and finally, I want to thank you all for taking the time to watch this WIP and specially to those who also took the time to put some comments, they are highly appreciated, you are all very nice and I really hope to be up to the level of audience we have here, YOU ARE GREAT GUYS! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Until the next WIP!
