Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

the lower the ohm's the more watts the amp can push out. from my experince 2 duel 2 ohm subs wired in series parrell to give off a 2 ohm load seems to get the most out of daily driver thumber without worrying to much if the amp will over heat.

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

that's the thousand dollar question...
even though your amp is listed and marketed as being one ohm stable,
is it able to handle that load at maxx power constantly, for how long,
and will it eventually turn to a forman grill, and/or should we expect
premature failure for extensively using it at rated power...basically,
the question is will it perform as advertised, and for how long...??
the answer to these questions are what reputations, (and MSRP's) are built on...

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

it's not that expensive to buy the materials, so if you're felling industrious...
WTF...you might surprise yourself...
and, if you don't like your work, you can always get a pro to do it...

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

Well I have a helpful hint but it's not on building a box. Make sure you don't ruin your eletrical system on your new car. Calculate in about $200-400 for a high output alternator. It seems like alot but it will save you that much in headache's. And you will probably use a capacitor but a capacitor is only a band aid on a big problem. Search online for some high output alternators, anywhere from 180amp to 300amp, especially if you are running 1500rms. That is a ton of power and you're exisiting eletrical system will NOT handle it. Maybe it will work for a month but you will burn your alternator so fast you won't know whats happening. Get the good high output alternator especially if you're running that much RMS.

Daniel

PS: to help out with your box use this program
http://www.linearteam.dk/default.aspx?pageid=winisd
It will help alot in you're design and tell you exactly how to build a custom box. You will need the theile small specs for your subwoofer but once you have it in there you can customize the sound curve and all sorts of other things. It's free and it works. I used it myself!

Well from what I have viewed about the subwoofers you are getting you will be a proud owner. I dont think they will be window cracking like other speakers but they will pack alot of punch, especially in the small space of that truck.

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

O.K. thats good news. But I read in 3 places that you would need an alternator if you are running about 1500.
