4wd conversion
Is it possible/feasible to convert my '92 Toyota pickup to 4wd. This may sound like a stupid question but here it is anyways. I know someone who wrecked their 4wd and I could get the parts really cheap.
Thanks, Jesse |

sure it is possible.
Give All Pro Off Road a call if you are in Cali especially. A solid axle swap would be the easiest way to go but you could probably use that transmission and t-case, and the rear axle too.

Go to www.marlincrawler.com and click where it says Ask Questions Here. It is a forum like this one. Marlin is a Toyota Genius and if it can be done he can tell you how. Also most of those guys on there know their Toyotas so you can get alot of great advice.

I wouldnt reccomend doing it, the frames are not built as strong on the 4x2's as the 4x4's

Re: 4wd conversion
Superjoe is correct about the frame--I would think that frame reinforcements could help--if the 4X4 is wrecked, can you get the frame too? Even if it is bent, that can be fixed by a reputable shop or you could buy a salvage frame. But, one has to consider that you can go out and buy a pretty decent 4x4 of that vintage ('92-'94) for about 3 grand. You will blow through a lot more than that tinkering with your 2x4.

it can be doen but without the parts already in your backyard and if you don't have lots of tools and know how then it will cost you to much compared to just getting a 4x4. red |
