4" lift for 02 tacoma any suggestions

Im trying to find a kick ass 4" lift for both on and off road on my '02 taco TRD 4x4. I wanted the fabtech 0-3.5" lift but they said that with my auto locking hubs the best I could get was a 2" because of the CV angle. Dang! any detailed suggestions?

4" Lift

try calling procomp. But if you wouldn't mind 3", give Revtek a shot. I have a Revtek and it looks very close to my buddys Procomp 4". Both easily claer 33" tires. The decision is yours, but be open minded.

lift?

What sort of lift do you want body or suspension? Keep in mind as soon as you lift your vehicle you will be compromizing on road handling so you cant have it both ways, its either do your truck up for onroad or offroad. Suspension lift of 4inch will allow far better offroad abbility giving you that extra 4 inches of travel but at the same time the bump stop ability will increase and handling onroad will decrease (roll over factor at speed). If it is just looks your after a body lift using lifting blocks will be cheaper and you could add stiffer suspension for on road handling. Shackles would be a good option also but speak to a specialist for exactly what your after.

What u could do

You could get a 3" or 3.5 inch fabtech lift (suspension of course), then after that put some body lift on like a 2" lift or so to fit the tires you desire.

Yeah, I got yer detailed suggestions. Get the Pro Comp. If you want a kick ass kit this is the only way to go. Stock ride and suspension/steering geometry are retained. The only other kit that even compares is the Fabtech 6" kit, which is great but more expensive. There are 2 other ways to lift the front of your Taco: coilovers and spacers. The Revtek spacer is alright, and adjustable coilovers from Fabtech, Downey, etc. are pretty good, too. The problem with all these kits is they use the stock a-arms in the stock locations, so for every inch of lift you lose an inch of suspension down-travel. I wouldn't suggest going higher than 2" with either of these methods.

In the rear, you can use blocks, add-a-leaves, longer shackles, or new springs to get lift. Blocks are cheapest, and usually work great unless you burn out a lot, or 'wheel in loose dirt or steep rocky stuff where you're giving it a lot of throttle. You'll get more wheel hop in these situations when using blocks. I've used a combination of blocks and leaves with good results, too. New springs are the best, but more expensive.

Body lifts are usually a cheap way to go, but don't go too high. Also consider installation costs and hidden mods you may not notice until after you begin. I've never done one on a Taco, but look for things like radiator, gas filler, bumpers, shifters, steering linkage, brake and clutch lines, etc. that may need to be relocated and/or modified.

So, go with the pro comp if you can afford it. A combination of a mild suspension lift and 2" body lift wouldn't be too bad and possibly a bit cheaper, but would probably be more complicated and bigger headache.

BTW, this kit performs excellent on the street, but you will lose some power and mileage when switching to bigger tires.

Hear is a suggestion. Switch out your hubs and sell the auto locks on EBay. Get some OEM parts from toyota because those have not let me down.
