ok, just got my alum12X in the mail today along with all my 1/0 gauge and rca's etc. stayed out til 10pm with shop lights to get it done, had it all wired, checked it again to see if its right, and it looked fine, so I connect the main line to the battery and go inside to get cleaned up, come back out and leave my house, get away from all the neighbors and start bumping, it was pretty loud (only had HU @25/60, sub out@ 4/6 crossed over at 125, amp gain about half, no bass boost. only problem was with my seat down to see the neons in the box I could hear a bit of port noise but oh well, anyways, I staoped the car and left it running and turned it up a bit, got out and walked away, suprisingly the alum12X in 6th order box was nowhere near as loud as my AW1200X in a ported, and the hugh excursion only had maybe 500-600 watts, I should have close to 1000if turned up all the way(and on my old setup no gains were maxed and the volume was never real high so I wasnt at its limit either). but you could barely hear it outside of the car. and in the cra it was loud and shook the mirror a bit but my old setup it hurt top listen to it long and made my mirror fall off all the time. so I was a bit dissapointed, figured maybe it was because I got the SQ series and not the high excursions for SPL. but then about 20 minutes later I smell something and hear no sound, look back and the amps light is still green. so i shut off the car and flip the switch for my neons only to go on and the rear chamber of the box is thick with smoke and now my sub ddoesnt move at all.

I just rented a sub for 270 bucks an hour!

I think maybe it was old though and used and the guy passsed it off as new cuz when i got it, there was a section on the basket where alot of chrome was flaked off, but it wasnt on the bottom of the wooden crate. so it must have chipped off elsewhere. Im gonna talk tom him tomorrow.

actually, those speakers are junk. My friend has fried two of them. He ended up selling his second blown one to some mexican dude for $200 and got himself a L5 to replace it.

I dont think thats it. I have had 2 AW1200X's and were impressed with both, and they both worked perfect the whole time I was using them, my AS69Q's work perfect still, my A1300HDCX amp worked perfect for a long time, this is the only audiobahn productr ive had a problem with. it might be that I was feeding it too much power in the box it was in, but it is rated 1000 watts RMS, and I know that in this box it wouldnt handle so much, but at my volume/gain setings it wasnt getting that much power.

I thought about building a sealed box for the replacement I get but i think Im just gonna go with a high excursion since I know that thing can handle big ported boxes. not sure what I am gonna do yet. got my EQ today also but now have no real reason to install it.

how was he using his, large sealed lots of power or small sealed like audiobahns site says.??

small sealed box, it was only 1 cf. Feeding it with a JL 1000/1 amp. Blew two of them. I used to have the cheap AW120Q's and used a A3201 amp to power them, and then sold that system to another friend since my car had been totaled and it was just sitting in my room, and the amp went out on him 2 weeks after I sold it to him. There was nothing wrong with it when it was in my car, and it wasn't used for like 2 months before he got his hands on it. That's what really turned me away from Audiobahn.

BTW: if you're still stuck on Audiobahn, get your gear from Ikesound.com the alum12's are only 115 from that place.

I had a A1300HCX amp pushing mine and no problems, I got my ALUM12X's the old model for 80 bucks on ebay, and I got an email form the guy and I am getting a new one, I am going to put it in a sealed box though, Im actually debating on having him send me 2 of them to put in a sealed box or just get it and resell it and go for the AW1200Q and put it in a largew ported, cuz I know my amp I have now is way more powerful than what was pushing my old one, but maybe this is my problem, maybe to 1200's
