92 Cutlass Supreme International Charge Problem
Have 92 Cutlass International that is draining the battery. Have narrowed down the fuse that allows the drain , but cant locate the component causing it. If I pull the fuse marked "elec" the battery will stay up. I pulled the wiring diagram from Mitchell and removed the radio and pass restraint timer box and still have same problem. The owne states it has a new alternator and I have had the charging system tested to find everything is working properly. If the fuse is left in it sometimes discharges while running and drains sometimes when not running. The owners have had this carto other shops and still have the same problems. Left car with me in hopes of getting lucky. There is no rush on getting it fixed but would like to see it eventually fixed. I am about to give up myself and its been a side project waiting for fresh ideas for me fo about 2 months now. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
BTW it has a 3.4 liter w/auto trans |

Have you checked to see what the draw is in milliamps?

Re: 92 Cutlass Supreme International Charge Problem
I cant check for the draw because its not always present. Its a sneaky SOB. I think its a sticky diode, but the owner refuses to let me change the alternator because it "was" new. Same with the battery. Battery was installed a few years ago and they classify it as being new. I cant convince them that a battery can go bad from sitting in a car not being driven but only started from time to time. I swear if they werent friends I would have told them to take it home.lol
