Midium Size SUV/Crossover for ~12K from 2008~2012?
My sister just moved to Miami, 3 weeks ago. She needs to buy a car, but since she is not from USA, and I do not live there either, I would like some help to get 3~5 options of possible cars to choose from
So, she has no much knowledge of mechanics, so a reliable car is a must. She would like to spend about 10~11k tops. About the size of a Jeep Patriot. She doesn't wants to run races with the car. Good economy on fuel and maintenance is really appreciated. - Jeep Patriot-type/size (I think these are called Crossover/SUV?). - Low mileage (50.000 tops). - Automatic. - Reliable, low maintenance. - Between the years of 2007 and 2013 - $12.000 tops. What options can you recommend for her? Thanks a lot. Last edited by Javierrrr; 07-09-2013 at 03:38 PM. |

Re: Help My Sister Who Just Moved To Miami To Find a Car?
So, while waiting for somebody to reply to me, I find out that there is a page called kbb.com, where they have sort of a list of used cars prices.
They also have classifieds, and they allowed me to do a search: http://www.kbb.com/cars-for-sale/mod...uv&distance=75 Of those, they ones with 9+ points out of 10 are: Acura MDX Cadillac Escalade Cadillac Escalade ESV Chevrolet Tahoe Chrysler Aspen GMC Yukon Honda Element Honda Pilot Infinity QX4 Lexus LX 470 Lexus RX 300 Lexus RX 330 Mercury Mountaineer Mitsubishi Montero Mitsubishi Outlander Toyota 4Runner Toyota Highlander Toyota Land Cruiser Toyota Sequoia But I really do not know if that is reliale or not. |

Re: Help My Sister Who Just Moved To Miami To Find a Car?
This is an opinion post. We dont know your Sister or you, and I have always been told not to tell someone what car to buy. They will end up not liking it, and blame you. Either way doesnt matter to me.
As far as my opinion, there are alot of crossovers out there. I like Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, GM. Had a Hyundai brand new, put 100k on it without a single problem. As I said, its really about preference. Good luck. |

Oh and BTW most of the vehicles you posted are horrid on gasoline. MPG is very low on nearly all of them. Do a little research for MPG. and go from there.

Re: Help My Sister Who Just Moved To Miami To Find a Car?
Thanks for replying at least. But honestly, it is not if much help.
It is obvious that a car is a matter of preference. I do not want you or anybody to tell me what car to buy. I want suggestions on possible candidates to buy, so that I can better research them. But again, thanks for your reply. |

The Honda Pilot and Mitsubishi Outlander won't be that bad on Gas. I'd much more highly recommend the Pilot.
She might also want to look at a Ford Escape.

I suggest you look at a Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4. They both get decent gas mileage, are very reliable, and maintenance costs aren't too bad. They come in both 2WD and 4WD versions.
