PLEEEZE help me find DLC & reprogram keyless remote for 01GT
Hey guys!
I just bought a 2001 Eclipse GT but the dealership did not have the keyless remote... I ordered one off the net w/ instructions... but they're soooooooo hard to follow! I tried to buy a Haynes manual but every place I go to it's sold out or "out of stock" Grrrrrrrrrrr! Anyone w/ a pic/diagram of the Data Link Connector (DLC) or better instructions please contact me! Thanks, yall! |

I did the same thing, but i found that the instructions were very easy to follow! Here they are:
1. Locate the Data Line Connector (DLC) underneath the driver's side dashboard. The DLC is typically located either to the left or the right of the steering column base. Notice how the DLC is tapered on both ends: you will be working on the wider row of cavities 2. Insert keys in Ignition and leave in the off position. 3. Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 and connect the Data Line Connector (DLC) terminal 1 to terminal 4 with a suitable jumper wire, leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure). Make sure you know which terminals are 1 and 4. 4. Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch 6 times. (Note) The doors will automatically lock and unlock once at this time indicating that the system is in the programming mode. 5. Press either the lock or unlock button on the transmitter to be registered three times within 10 seconds. Upon successful programming, the door will lock and unlock once. 6. Repeat step 5, with any other remotes to be programmed (up to four remotes) (including any existing remotes), within one minute. After completing each programming, the doors will lock and unlock once. 7. Disconnect the programming wire and remove the keys from the ignition. For the jumper wire, i was able to use Paperclips... they worked great! If you want, have someone else in the car to press the hazard switch and the remote while you hold the paperclips together! Any other questions, email me! Ill send you the directions in word format with picture diagrams! Last edited by 00_GS; 04-22-2004 at 03:49 PM. |

00_GS is AWESOME!!! These instructions DO WORK!
After weeklong frustration, I was very close to GIVING UP & taking my car (2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT) to a dealership, knowing full-well I would be spending $90 for them to reprogram my remote... What a ripoff! I tried to get a Haynes Manual, but every store seemed to be "out of stock"... My online searching was also in vain. I found countless pages & sites with FAULTY INSTRUCTIONS - - tried at least 10 different procedures, blew 4 fuses & burnt myself...
Then I found AutomotiveForums.com & posted a thread!!! I sought out help & within a few hours, 00_GS responded to my dilemna & guess what??? His instructions WORKED!!! It took me about a minute & a half to reprogram my remote!!! It was soooooo easy, but make sure you follow his instructions to every detail! ***It is important to note that the doors must be CLOSED AND LOCKED. ***Your key must be on "ON" (Not off, not ACC & not running) GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO WERE IN MY SITUATION!!! I hope these instructions fare you well! Keep us updated & feel free to ask questions! THANK U SOOOOOOOO MUCH 00_GS...

Do you think this would work for a '03 Eclipse too?

Hey, guys!
Just a note: even after I obtained programming instructions, I went ahead & bought a Haynes manual online... Curious, I flipped through the pages to glimpse at its contents... IT CONTAINS NOTHING ABOUT REPROGRAMMING KEYLESS REMOTES... So, don't waste your time or money trying to buy one if you're only buying it for your remote instructions... It is a good idea to have one for vehicle maintenance, of course! But if you only need instructions for a 3G eclipse, there are AWESOME instructions in this thread, try em out & make sure to give 00_GS props for providing them!!!

I know, riiiiggghhhttt?
I tried all the local AutoZones, PepBoys, O'Reillys.... no one had it & it took me forever to search online (at least one that didn't cost an arm & a leg!)... Finally, I found an awesome site DiscountAutoRepairManuals.com & bought it for $12.95 - and it only took 2 days for the package to arrive!!! Here's the link for this particular Haynes Mitsu Eclipse manual: http://discountautorepairmanuals.com...t2/merchant.mv? This web dealer also has the Chilton manuals, but I have a personal preference for Haynes... good luck! Hope this helps!

If it doesnt have a brainbox for a remote, and it doesnt have power locks, then this wont work! You need to check the owners manual to see if it came with a remote at first, and if it did, then yes, it will work!

door lock problem on 03
does anyone know of a problem with the electronic dorr locks on the 03? when I unlock the doors, they immediately lock back, whether i use the remote or do it on the door inside! I think it needs to be reprogrammed but I haven't tried anything yet because I am afraid it is a short in electrical and I don't want to mess up something else.
I would appreciate any help or ideas! |

Just shoot the car! As for repair manuals get the actual shop manual! yeah its $200, but its well worth it. I love it! Much beter then Haynes, and Chilton. It comes in a 2 volume set.
