Re: Pocher F40 WIP

Stunning......totally stunning...great work!

Can you post some pics of the techniques you are using to fabricate some parts (Eg: the suspension mounts etc)?

Thanks.

Re: Pocher F40 WIP

Hello all, wanted to post a few more photos for today... had a free day from work today, since I am still recovering from the stomach flu, but I didn't get as far along as I had hoped... I did get the rest of the front suspension mounts done, the lower frame completed, made some more accurate changes to the base of the winsheild area, including the support bracket and almost got the footwell area closed in. I took 3 quick shots, but the work hasn't been cleaned up yet, so please excuse the mess. Enjoy...

BM1

I'll try to get the rest finished and cleaned up before the end of the week... we'll see, since I'm now backlogged at work. Thanks for looking!!!

I still have the whole rear-end to do, so I'll post some pics of the layout work I do for some of the detail parts when I start on the rear. It's very time consuming to make each part and I hate doing one over if I mess it up, so I try to figure out all the requirements before I start to make each part. That's what takes the most time... just like doing machine work. It's not the actual machining, it's the thinking about how to machine it that takes the time...

Re: Pocher F40 WIP

Very nice work!! You should have just built a real 1/1 F40!

Keep updating.

That's funny... that's exactly what my father-in-law said. With all the research material I have, I probably could...hmmm...

Thanks,

Already been done....

And has greater performance than a genuine F40!!!! That Lexus V8 engine is a real gem, especially with twin turbo's added.

Anyway, love the progress, keep it coming.

I have that site bookmarked for reference... If I built a 1:1, it would be a little more "true" to the Ferrari origins. That one is cool, but there are some differences that I don't care for. The Lexus motor is not one of the differences, though. I'll bet it screams! Thanks, maybe a photo or two to post tonight, yet...

Re: Pocher F40 WIP

Okay, not much building progress tonight, but I had alot of mods to do to the body. Mind you, all who hold the Pocher K55 F40 kits sacred... these photos are not for the faint of heart... you'll see what I mean...

First is the removal of the kit dash support/windshield mount...

Next, we have the removal of the kit rear rollcage tubes and top frame rails...

Next, the removal of the kit under roof detail, A pillar thickness and also B pillar rollcage detail, all of which was cast into the body...

And finally, some shots of the "hacked up" body on the frame. Note how the windshield frame now sits right on the bracket which extends up from the dash crossmember...

Also, you can see the pedal mount sitting on its "box"...maybe a little easier to identify its placement in the photo above...

And the rear, now without the kit parts attached anymore...

Thanks for looking!!!

The Ferrari F40 is one litre less and in competition form still puts out 100 more Horsepower than the competition tuned Toyota/Lexus engine. Dont compare a Japanese car motor to a Ferrari motor. I suppose you could turn the boost up on the Toyota motor until it had more horspower and then blew up.

Yeah, it's fun... but progress is slow. I have to plan 10 steps ahead and figure out what can fabricated, what can be modified, how to replace what i remove, etc. It's like building the real thing at times. Thankfully I have a large amount of reference to help me out. More this weekend!

Thanks for looking!!!

It's not happens so often.... a newbee and he's a master.

I'm impressed by the brass frame. I'm honest, I'm busy and I didn't read any word in the thread, just some of your writing and images. May you explain how you cut so well the brass plate? I'm used to work with etched metal but I have serious troubles to cut metal plates.

I'm tuned, this is one of those cool thread where you can't wait for next updates! Bravo!
