Re: Classic Models Museum McLaren M8D 1/12
Hi,time to dig out the Can-Am McLaren again.
Just start again with this one and found some major shape problems. But i decided to let it like it is.Too much work. My interpretation of the intake trumpets. They are not glued yet, only with some Ikea parts put into place. So i finally find a place to use that Ikea pencil for modeling. Some plastic sheet for the inner chassis look. Next will be the fine tuning of all open body holes.Sanding and sanding to get sharper edges. regards Christian |

Re: Classic Models Museum McLaren M8D 1/12
@ Guiddy: sado-maso modeling is what i call it. Small update on the Mac. The rear end is done. The exhaust and the support suspension was easy to build. Also the rear wing support was made from scratch. Roll cage is made. Cockpit got some plastic sheet pieces for a realistic view. The dashboard made me a bit proud. I used (in german we call it "Aderendhülsen") for the instruments. I simply used a very fine saw and cut 2mm thick ring from it.Works fine and looks good.No need to use putty on the inside. Now i only need a adjustment for the rear wheel and both mirrors. Thats it,all is done. regards Christian

Re: Classic Models Museum McLaren M8D 1/12
This was a complete disaster.
I think its something with a primer that was not dry enough,a wet sanding who didn't dry long enough and too much color. At the end it was a mess. Now its sanded and primed again. Only thing i now need is some more patience. regards Christian |

This time more patience than too much color. And the result is much better. Some smaller parts are also colored. Time for the finish in the next days. regards Christian |

You were really cool over the paint failure, well done.
Ikea?, surely a model of this quality deserves a good Staedtler HB? |

Re: Classic Models Museum McLaren M8D 1/12
Not so fast i wanted to be,but some more progress here.
The decals are too big at the first version. The Reynolds logo at the wing and the 4 smaller stickers at the side are much too big. I ordered the decals a while ago before i started with this.So i dont proofed the size of it.But my buddy Michael printed me some new ones with a better size. Thanks! This looks way better and i go on with the clear coat. Looks good and i painted the wheels and rims.Still need some weathering. The cockpit gets some additional aluminum parts and a gear changer. The trumpets are painted with alclad black chrome and look very cool in my eyes. I hope i will finish this till Christmas or before the year ends. But my wife told me she got some other projects for me. Hmm....will see whats on top of my list.  rgeards Christian |

A great result considering what you had to start with - a true test of skill. Excellent finish!

Looks great, I love the Can Am cars and you've done a good job on what looked like a terrible kit.
